“The Bright Young Poet with a High Haiku”

In the spirit of writing something every day, and following the theme explored in yesterday’s “Mr Spedding’s Dragon”, here’s a little bit of literary monkey business. The thing with writing is that you are lonely but it’s a friend you can have fun with.

“You are not so smart!”
said teacher to the boy who
just wanted to write.

“Don’t you think so sir?”
the boy replied, tears welling.
Forty years later

the poet was old –
old and rich and wise and famed
for his high IQ.
